“Love is all there is.” It’s amazing how everything in life circles back to love, ever-present, connected to everything. And yes, that includes you.
When It All Started
We all reach moments of questioning. For me, it happened in college. I kept wondering, Why am I here? What’s the point of studying Math?
My aunt introduced me to The Celestine Prophecy, a book that helped view life in a new way. It offered perspectives I hadn’t encountered before—beyond what I’d learned in my Catholic upbringing.
I learned about synchronicity—the idea that people or events show up for a reason, even if we don’t fully understand why.
If you’re in a similar phase, remember, when you’re ready, the right people, opportunities or ideas find their way to you.
Finding Comfort in Hard Times
Losing my mom was one of the hardest things I’ve faced. Nothing anyone said could ease that pain. So, I turned to books, looking for answers.
It led me to search for comfort and answers in my own way, the spiritual way. That’s when I found Conversations with God by Neale Donald Walsch, a series of books that felt like they were answering the very questions I wanted to ask.
One powerful takeaway from the book was the idea of Be-Do-Have:
First, just be you.
Then, do the things that bring you joy.
From there, you’ll naturally have what you need.
I used to think, “If only I had more time or money, then I could do what I want and finally be happy.”
Flip that script, and watch yourself change, for the better.
Where I Am Now
Lately, spirituality has come back to me in small but beautiful ways—the crisp autumn air, a sunset that colors the neighborhood in golden light. Everywhere I look, I feel love.
Practices like mindfulness, meditation, or just taking a quiet walk bring clarity. Hugging a tree makes me weird, and so be it!
(speaking of hugging trees - the picture above was taken in Los Baños, Laguna, Philippines, where I graduated from college; it’s one of the most spiritual places I’ve lived in)
You have the power to choose your focus: your thoughts, your words, your actions, your destination. Even when things feel uncertain, there’s a presence guiding us, a reminder that we’re here on earth for a purpose.
Everyday Lessons
Conversations with God highlighted three values that resonate deeply: Awareness, Honesty, and Responsibility. These are universal—they matter in relationships, in work, in every part of life:
Awareness keeps us connected to who we are.
Honesty builds trust and keeps us real.
Responsibility means owning our choices and growing from them.
We’re here to make the most of life, to connect and create.
Simple, intentional choices can make a difference:
Serving others.
Reaching out to a neighbor.
Showing kindness to someone just starting out.
Being sweet and thoughtful to your partner for no reason.
Even though our lifetime is finite, our legacy and impact last. Each of us has something unique to offer, and we’re all part of something way bigger.
Embracing Spirituality in Everyday Life
I lean a lot on spirituality to help navigate life’s ups and downs.
As you go through your day, know that it takes only a micro-second to choose better thoughts, loving thoughts.
In the end, we’re here together, and that’s a beautiful thing, isn’t it?
Remember: Love is all there is.
Amen to that, Mae!
